What a Week!

Hello my FBB followers,

What a week I have had, from training to celebrating to doing Fatty Boom Boom in style!  So lets start at the very beginning...

Monday:
Rest day - Had been doing well all day with food and then spoilt it in the evening and ate lots of crisps!  However did make it to 10,330 steps having gone for an evening walk.

Tuesday:
As it is too hot when I leave work I was up at 5am to do my training.  Starting with a set of Core Warm Up I was off out to do 10 minutes walk, 20 minutes run, 10 minutes walk.  It was perfect, the sun was just rising, the only sounds were the birds, just me and nature.  In fact 2 families of ducks strolled in front of me into the river, it really was the nicest way to start the day!

In total I did just under 4.8km, and my 20 minute run averaged at 7:09 pace, splits being 7:10, 7:08, 7:04 so was very pleased.

Eating was good today and under my allowance. Didn't go for walk this evening so was down on steps.

Wednesday:
Today was my 4th anniversary being together with Rob and 1 year engaged, and where the week started to go a bit naughty... It was a cross training day so I did:

  • 15 minutes Pilates (it was supposedly a beginners video but I couldn't do it and gave up)
  • 25 minutes dance (Rob started but he soon gave up! He looked so funny trying to keep up)
  • 15 minutes SnC (Rob did these ones and put me to shame)
Food had been good all day, although had 2 glasses of red wine, also went for a walk and managed 5,679 steps for the day, but finished 15 calories over.

Thursday:
Swapped my days so today was a rest day, and even though we went for a walk and clocked up 7237 steps for the day, I was 1111 over my 1200 daily limit of calories... unfortunately we stopped at Sainsburys and bought chocolate sweets and more red wine!

Friday:
Today was an amazing day, it was the day we truly celebrated our anniversary, and where I really 'styled out' my Fatty Boom Boom ways!  In true running couples style we both started the day with a run, my training was intervals and as always I went out too fast and burnt out:

10 minutes warm up and cool down with 5 sets of 4 minutes run 1 minute recovery
  • 1st set - 6.06/km
  • 2nd set - 6:23/km
  • 3rd set - 7:19/km
  • 4th set - 8:43/km (walked this one)
  • 5th set - 6:21/km
I had been looking forward to today for a long time, I had bought myself new clothes, a pair of light blue jeggings (something I have never worn as my legs were always far too fat!) and a long floaty black and silver top, I took time doing my hair and make up (another thing I never bother with) and I was ready.

We were off to London, starting the day with afternoon champagne tea at the Hilton in Canary Wharf. Strawberry champagne cocktails, small triangle sandwiches, cakes and scone with lashings of cream and jam!  We also managed to sneak another cocktail when the shifts seemed to change and they thought we hadn't had ours!

After tea we met up with our friends Andy and Karen in Carnaby Street and went to a Sam Smiths pub, I had two pints of their very delicious cider.

Then Rob and I had to make our way back to Victoria for a reservation at the Fresh Pizza Company.  We left the station walked about 15 minutes round in a big circle only to find out that it was in the station itself!

After stuffing our faces with pizza and beer we went to the Apollo to watch Wicked. Rob had booked this and it wasn't something that ever appealed to me, having said that I didn't really know what it was about, and my god I couldn't have been more wrong!  I loved the film the Wizard of Oz and this was like watching the characters growing up before the film, it was amazing.  I loved every second.

We left the theatre and had to make a rush for it to get the train home, as it happened it was a few minutes late, so whilst standing on the platform we thought we would check up on social media.  Choooo Choooo.... yes we were so engrossed in our phones the train pulled in and away whilst we just looked on!  So typical of us!  Luckily we only had to wait half an hour to the next one and it wasn't long before we were home having had an amazing day.

Clocked up 13,354 steps but went 444 calories over ... ooopsie!

Saturday:
Today was a beautiful day, my training was again cross training but it would have been a crime to stay in.  Rob is doing his first ultra next month, it is a 50k trail run around local towns and villages part of which follows a track from Chapmore End to Watton at Stone.  So we packed a bag with crisps, bananas and water and off we set to walk that part of the route.

First we had to make our way to Chapmore End, across fields and through woods, about 4.5km. They have a lovely little pub called The Woodman, and as I believe it is rude to walk past, we popped in for a swift half of cider. Back off we went through more fields, through farms, through corn fields and woods, getting lost but find our way and eventually making it to Watton.  In total we walked 11km between our house and The Bull pub in Watton at Stone... yes of course we popped in there also!

We caught the train back to Hertford then popped to Sainsburys to pick up some snacks to watch the football with.

I arrived home shattered and sun burnt, having clocked up 26,259 steps - 17.72km over the whole day. Also a good day food wise was under my calories.

Today:
Woke up quite late having had a fiance emergency during the early hours... No I don't mean that Rob had an accident, or was ill, he had put on boiled eggs ready for the weeks lunches and went to bed forgetting them.  Our Dog Marley was charging our bedroom door and woke me up, I could smell something horrible, but was half asleep and couldn't work it out, and then I heard a bang and flew out of bed!  The pan had obviously burnt dry having been on for 3 hours and the eggs were exploding all over the kitchen, and the smell was so bad I cant even begin to explain!  MEN!!

Luckily enough it wasn't too warm, in fact it was raining so after a set of Core Warm Up (I am now up to 30 tummy crunches) I went out for my run.  2 x 5 minute brisk walk and 20 minute run.  I was concerned I had over done it on the walking the day before and wouldn't be able to do it, but I did.

  • Running Set 1 - 7:22/km
  • Running Set 2 - 7:17/km
It is at this point readers (if you haven't already fallen asleep as this is a rather long post) I urge you (if you run) to really work on your core, I cannot stress this enough, although mine is not great the work I have been doing really showed today.  As I started to tire, I pulled my body up as straight as I could and really used my arms and stomach muscles to power me on!

So we are up to now sitting here typing my little heart out, food has been pretty good today, and we are intending on a walk later... Rob has just cleaned the kitchen, so of course I need to go and inspect!

I have posted lots of things on here today so have left out my Strava stats but if you want to see them click here:  My Strava

Much Love
FBB xx
