I Get Knocked Down, But I Get Up Again!

Well hello... if anyone is still out there waiting to read my ramblings, I applaud you... it has certainly been a while.

Today I bring tales of pain, tales of fun, and tales of new beginnings....

So where have I been since (take a quick look at last blog post) the end of October!  OMG I didnt realise it had actually been that long (stands up, smacks ones bottom and sits back down).

So quick re-cap on that post: -

Ear Infection, well that came back 3 times.. turns out I have some sort of eczema in my ear, it is because this irritates me and I itch it, I take off the dry skin, which in trun gets infected and causes the bad pain in my ears, so once the infection went for the third time, it was a matter of making sure I help the eczema instead.

Marley Dog, his lump completely disappeared on its own and he has been fine since, well apart from the incident where he completely destroyed my kitchen door as an impromptu fireworks display scared the hell out of him (we were out celebrating my daughters 17th Birthday).

Running, Well it has been hit and miss, between the ear infections, and a slight niggle I have in my ankle that does not want to shift.  However I am pleased to say that my fitness itself, has almost returned to what it was before all of this started.  I did the Stevenage Park run a couple of weeks back in 35:18, so less than a minute from my PB of 34:27.  I was really pleased to be so close.

Santa Run, Rob and I did Santa Run in London, by 2:09 Events.  It started and finished by St Paul's Cathedral, and having been a horrible week weather wise, we were greeted with a blue sky and beautiful sunshine (a bit too warm considering we were wearing full on Santa suits!

It was a fun 5k which Rob and I ran (jogged/walked) round together.  I used my new cam to film whilst I ran, and I will start to add some footage real soon to my blog site.

Gym, I have recently joined a new gym - Anytime Fitness which is a 24 hour gym.  They have state of the art machines, and a virtual studio so I can go at anytime and do my favorite class - Body Pump. I have only used it a couple of times so far, but am loving what I have seen so far.  Today I popped in at 6.20am and did a session on the treadmill, which I can connect to my mobile via LFConnect (as you can with all of the machines).  It loads your work out straight to the app, only downside is I cant seem to link it any way with Strava, but it does link with Fitbit, apple health and my fitness pal.

The best part of this session was hitting the showers after, you get your own bathroom (like a hotel en-suite) with toilet, sink, hair dryer, shaving plug thingy, and a massive shower!  I really didn't want to get out of it, and it is so nice to be able to get your clothes out and take your time showering and getting dry and dressed without having to keep putting stuff in and out of lockers and trying not to make everyone sick by showing them your wobbly parts!  I think I am actually going to have to do a work out every day before work, just so I can shower.... (No I am not a dirty mare, I only have a bath at home, but love showers.)

So thats me for now, I am really looking forward to Christmas, and then my 1st race of 2017 which will be Chocathon, which is run by Saxon Shore.

It has been a year since I really felt I became a runner, and I first took up the Big Marathon Challenge with Women's Running and started my journey to London Marathon.  I am so proud of what I have achieved in this year, but know I can go much further (maybe not in miles....).  I want to wish the Big Marathon Challenge Team of 2016/17 all the very best, take every single moment and cherish it, as it will soon be over in a blink of an eye and run of.... oooo about 26.2 miles!

Happy Running People!
Much Love
