Who knew running could be so much fun....

When you are not the one running!

Hi all,

So since we last had coffee and chewed the cud, I got really irritated on Friday when I woke up with a sore throat and swollen glands.  I was really looking forward to going out for a run after work, but snuggling on the sofa and feeling sorry for myself was as far as I got!

However I woke up feeling much better on the Saturday and decided to go to my local Park Run - Panshanger.  It is a trail run, with a couple of small but steep hills, mud, stones and grass, through woods, fields and next to a lake.  Beautiful in the right weather and a nightmare in winter/heavy rain.

I had no intentions of running hard or fast, just enjoying it and getting some miles in my legs.... and yet somehow I managed to finish in 39:05 a PB for that Park Run.

That evening Rob and I went to 'Night of 10,000m' at Highgate Harriers.  As this post is titled, who knew running could be so much fun... when you are not the one running.  What a fantastic night these guys put on.

We had gone for some dinner beforehand as we wasn't too sure if there would be much in the way of refreshments, but should not have worried, they had coffee stalls, pizza, hot dogs and a bar.  The drinks were incredibly cheap and we positioned ourselves next to the one under the cover with a DJ. This was about half way around the track.

There was  a compere who was hilarious and kept the crowds entertained for the few short minutes between seeing the runners, and when I say short we are talking very short, these guys were fast!

It was great to see the likes of Andy Vernon and Jo Pavey at close range (quite literally as we were standing on track 3!)

I thoroughly enjoyed what was a completely different evening, and cannot wait to attend, next time they do it.

Unfortunately my fabulous weekend was short lived as I woke up feeling rubbish on the Sunday and had lost  my voice by Monday!  But I am on the mend now, and looking forward to hopefully getting back out tomorrow for a run.

Enjoy your evening peeps and happy running!

FBB xx
